Kim Jong-un’s Daughter Operate Tank in Army Drills
Kim supervised the offensive drills, which demonstrated coordinated infantry and armored operations, emphasizing combat readiness, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
Footage released by KCNA showed Kim Ju-ae, believed to be around 13 years old, with her head out of the tank’s driver hatch as her father sat on top alongside soldiers. Observers suggested that her position indicated she was operating the vehicle. The exercises reportedly included special forces, armored units from the general staff’s operational reserve, and a tank company from a cavalry regiment. KCNA added that the drills featured a demonstration assault by a company equipped with the latest tank models.
Kim praised the new tank’s performance as “excellent,” noting that its development took roughly seven years and asserting that the ground forces would be widely equipped with the vehicles.
Kim Ju-ae’s participation in high-profile exercises has attracted attention, as she is increasingly seen accompanying her father during significant defense activities, including missile launches and weapons inspections.
The drills took place amid ongoing US-South Korean joint exercises, which Pyongyang has repeatedly condemned as invasion rehearsals.
